Sphalerite
ETYMOLOGYDerived from the German blended, "fool" for his appearance that blends with Galena.
 
CRYSTAL SYSTEM: Cubic, hexagonal.
 
PRINCIPLE OF FORMATION: Primary.
 
MINERAL CLASS: Sulphides.

MINERALOGY: It consists of zinc sulfide is hydrothermally formed from a gel of zinc sulphide that gives it its banded structure, going from transparent to opaque, usually it appears in pseudooctaedricos crystals, their faces are striated.


MYTHOLOGY: When the iron content is low, caramel called sphalerite, whereas if its iron content is high, it is called marmatite.
