ETYMOLOGY: It comes from the town of Norway (Larvik).

MINERALOGY: Intrusive igneous rock consisting mainly of coarse feldspars having blue schellerización. The ferromagnesium minerals appear as lumps, and consist of titaniferous augite, olivine iron, apatite, biotite and magnetite

MYTHOLOGY: The larvikite was first described in 1890 by Brogger to an outcrop Larvik district, in the south of Norway.
