ETYMOLOGY: It comes from the union of two words that made voluntary peace Miguel Mendez: the name of his daughter, named Larissa, and the word sea, water colors of the Caribbean Sea in 1974.

MINERALOGY: The larimar is a variety of pectolite comprises a calcium acid hydrate and sodium silicate. It has been located historically as belonging to Miocene. This, different from other rocks, blue is the result of a substitution of cobalt for calcium.
MYTHOLOGY: In 1916, priest Miguel Domingo Fuertes Loren, who was then pastor of Barahona, was the first to discover the Blue Rock in the same year, requested permission to explore and exploit the mine, but it was already rejected that the country such pectolite was unknown.
